30a- Final Reflection

Image
Final Reflection 1) I read through all of my posts- a real tear jerker. 2)       What sticks out to me as my most formative experience from ENT3003 is definitely the first elevator pitch. Not only was this my first time doing one, I found it extremely fun to do and actually very informative. I never realized before Elevator Pitches were a real thing, so it was cool to be able to make one of my own. However, the experience I was most proud of for accomplishing was the Venture Concept 1, as this is when all of the ideas I have learned in this class really took fruition and combined into one assignment. 3)       Although I don’t truly feel like an entrepreneur yet, I feel I have truly developed more of an entrepreneurial mindset. I feel way more comfortable with the idea of failure and the ways in which I can move past it in stride. For this reason, I think I have moved closer to developing my own entrepreneurial mindset. Fail...

29a- Venture Concept 2

Jake Piotrowski- Venture Concept 2 Opportunity If you have ever been to UF, you have probably been awestruck at the number of fast-food chains and restaurants. UF has it all- Chick Fil A, Subway, Pollo Tropical, Panda Express, Wendy’s, you name it. Unless what you actually want is a meal that is actually good for you and doesn’t take up half your daily caloric intake in one meal. This is the opportunity I have identified at UF. There is a complete lack in healthy restaurant options for students, faculty, and anyone else who happens to find themselves on UF campus. There is truly only one restaurant on the entirety of UF campus that I would consider healthy, and that is Croutons. People who actually work out and take care of their body know how important it is to mix protein, carbs, and fats in the proper ratio, and those that know this could never be able to satisfy their needs by relying on the current restaurants offered by UF. Although these customers are currently relying on C...

27a- Reading Reflection 3

Mindset: The New Psychology of Success Summary 1.       What was the general theme or argument of the book? The general theme of this book revolves around the concept behind the rest of the book, which is that of two different mindsets. The first is the fixed mindset, in which one is acknowledges the idea of set abilities, aptitudes, and talents that can only be proven or not. Whereas, the growth mindset is one that believes these traits can be developed, learned and changed. The book then goes in depth as to how these mindsets affect one’s way of life from leadership and success to everyday decisions. 2.       This book connected to my learning in ENT 3003 because if there is one concept that this class reinforced for me, it was how to approach failure. This book directly connects to this idea because it stresses the different ways in which your mindset determines your outcomes. If one fails, the best way to approach the failu...

28a- Exit Strategy

Exit Strategy Ideally, I will be selling my business within the next decade so that I can move from Gainesville to a new part of the world. I love Gainesville, it has certainly become home in the last four years, however I certainly don’t intend on living here the rest of my life. Wanting to see the world and travel to as many places as I can is the primary reason in which I have chosen this exit strategy. In owning a restaurant, I believe it definitely requires one to be actively involved in the business and interacting with customers and employees on a daily basis. This is simply not something I want to do for the rest of my life, and thus ideally I would sell it for a solid return and be able to use this return for further investments in the future. I think my exit strategy definitely affected how I planned to acquire resources and grow my business. Knowing that I wouldn’t intend on keeping it in the long run, I would have to grow my business quickly in the next 5 years in order...

26a- Celebrating Failure

Celebrating Failure 1)       One of the times I failed this semester was when I had completely forgotten to submit the URL and declare for the first elevator pitch of the year. I had woken up early Friday morning the day it was due to record and submit it. After I had finished recording it, I uploaded it YouTube. However, while the video was uploading I had completely forgot to paste the blogpost URL and declare for the assignment, so I wasn’t able to receive credit. 2)       Although Dr. Pryor allowed me to get credit for the assignment later due to the circumstances, I definitely felt as if I failed as a student. One of my only responsibilities in the class is to be sure assignments are submitted every single time, and I had failed at doing so. After this failure, I double check to be sure my assignments are submitted every week before noon every Friday, as a way to succeed in this class. 3)     ...

25a- What's Next

What's Next? Existing Market: UF students and Faculty 1)       What’s next? If my venture has indeed been successful to start, I need to further understand whether my current menu items and restaurant culture are preparing me for future success. To find this out, I will be focusing my interview questions about options the interviewees find to be healthy, what they enjoy most in a healthy meal, in addition to the type of environment they enjoy in a restaurant and what kind of atmosphere I need to create for this market. 2)       Interviewees: John, Zac, Rachael 3)       Future Path ·        Interview 1: John’s interview was extremely interesting to me because he highlighted several aspects that I had honestly not thought about prior to the interview. He hit on several very interesting ideas. After talking about my own views on recycling and being a positive me...
